Carmen is a seasoned professional with over 36 years in book publishing as a Creative Director, Art Director, a cover and book designer, and a published illustrator. Early in his career he worked for NBC, HBO, and was promotional art director for Woman’s Day magazine. Clients included Weekly Reader, Pearson, McGraw-Hill and Oxford University Press. He also was a partner in the graphic design studio, Circa 86, for 14 years based in Manhattan. Besides book design, Carmen has managed all kinds of projects from start to finish hiring illustrators, graphics designers, editors and outside vendors under tight deadlines with limited budgets. For RKP, Carmen handles all graphic and media requirements such as book and manual design, posters, logos, and web design. Carmen holds a BFA from Temple Tyler School of Art and has a black belt in Kenshi-kai Karate.
